Hollywood Writers Continue Strike
30-Nov-2007
Written by: ray anderson

Weeks old strike continues in Tinseltown.

The three-week old writers' strike in Hollywood continues, as the writers have rejected the latest offer from the Hollywood executives and producers. The Writers Guild, according to VOA News, turned down a three-year deal that would have paid them $130 million above the current $1 billion that they currently make (that’s collectively, not per individual…) according to the producers. The Writers Guild says that the offer would have only paid them $250 from a year’s re-use of an hour long show on the Internet-not even half of what they receive from a network rerun.

The union offered a counter proposal that would amount to a 3 percent raise in the writers' salaries over the next three years.

The strike is having effects far and wide, as production on popular shows such as 24 has ceased, and networks scramble to fill their schedules with reality TV. HEY!! Maybe we can get a reality show based off the life and times of the Cabbage Patch doll in the Geico commercial!! Now that’s entertainment!!
