Guitar Hero Steps up in the Face of Competition
27-Oct-2007
Written by: Amy Hillard

Guitar Hero III will ship Sunday morning, and the makers have done everything to ensure that its popularity endures throughout future competition.

"Guitar Hero III" said Charles Huang, co-founder of Red Octone, the game's publisher, “is the best game we’ve ever done.” The makers of the third "Guitar Hero" video game, entitled "Legends of Rock," enlisted actual rock stars to write new songs and hired six guitar experts to turn dozens of rock anthems into game themes. So what’s the reason for all these new advances in the already best selling game series? The answer is simple: competition.

A new multiplayer game "Rock Band" extends beyond the "Guitar Hero" strategy to incorporate drumming and vocals. As a result, "Guitar Hero III" creators tapped into Rock n’ Roll star power in an effort to lead the race. Some of the new songs presented on its game include hits from the Killers, Cream and Rage Against the Machine. "Guitar Hero" will ship on October 28th. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of "Rock Band" are scheduled to ship in late November.
