Written by: Kimberly Lovisi

Matthew McConaughey is doing a cameo in “Tropic Thunder.“

According to Variety, Matthew McConaughey is joining the ensemble cast of "Tropic Thunder." The movie is directed by Ben Stiller through DreamWorks. This is the role that Owen Wilson opted out of after he was admitted to the hospital last month. All in all it’s a cameo, which is unaccredited, and will take about a week to shoot. Others involved in the comedy include Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Nick Nolte, Bill Hader and Steve Coogan. The plot follows a group of actors that set to make a big-budget war flick on an island and are forced to become the soldiers that they play. The shooting will take place in Hawaii. McConaughey finished the upcoming movies "Fool's Gold" and "Surfer Dude," which are both due out next year.
