The Undomestic Goddess

by Sophie Kinsella

Lawyer gets in trouble, runs from her past

Samantha is a lawyer. She is a workaholic. When she screws up big time, she panicks and runs away. She later finds out that she has been fired. With no job and nowhere to go, she ends up working as a maid at this big fancy house. The rich lady of the house mistakes her for the new housekeeper. Samantha is too shocked to correct her. Numb and unable to face returning to London, Samantha tries to master the finer points of laundry, cooking and cleaning. The only problem is she doesn't know how to cook, clean, iron -- everything a housekeeper does. So she goes to great lengths to keep this job, so she can live there, and make money, and so she doesn't have to face her problems at home. She eventually falls in love with the gardener. When Sam's employers find out who she really is, do they kick her out? Does Sam eventually go back home to face her problems?

Sophie Kinsella is the author of those shopaholic books. I love every book this author has written. She is a brilliant British writer. Those Brits have a weird sense of humor, and I love how the author has portrayed that in her books. This book is a funny read, and you will love it.
