Thomas Sean Connery better known as just Sean Connery was born on Aug. 25, 1930 in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland to Joseph Connery and Euphamia “Effie” Maclean. Connery has a brother named Neil.
Connery’s first job was as a milkman with St. Cuthbert’s Co-operative Society. He later joined the Royal Navy and after being discharged on medical grounds, went on to take on other odd jobs like truck driver and lifeguard. H competed in the 1953 Mr. Universe contest, under the name “Thom Connery,” he came in third. Another competitor suggested Connery try out for a stage production of “South pacific.” This led Connery to the stage and then to film.
Connery is best know for playing the suave spy “James Bond.” He appeared in seven “Bond” films, 1962’s “Dr. No,” 1963’s “From Russia With Love,” 1964’s “Goldfinger,” 1965’s “Thunderball,” 1967’s “You Only Live Twice,” 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever and 1983’s “Never Say Never Again.”
After vacating the role of “Bond,” Connery starred in 1987’s “The Untouchables,” with
Kevin Costner and Robert DeNiro. The role earned Connery an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also played Harrison Ford’s father in 1989’s “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” Other movies Connery has starred in include 1990’s “The Hunt For Red October,” 1992’s “Medicine Man,” opposite Lorraine Bracco, 1996’s “The Rock,” opposite Nicolas Cage, 1998’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, “ and 1999’s “Entrapment,” co-starring with Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Connery married actress Diane Cilento in 1962, that marriage lasted until 1973. They have one son, Jason Connery who was born on Jan 11, 1963. He is also an actor. Since 1975, Connery has been married to French-Tunisian artist Michelle Roquebrune Connery.
